Nut-Free Trail Mix


I was asking my colleague the other day what kinds of snacks she brought to work. I told her they had to be nut-free (I am a teacher), healthy, and filling. She was stumped for a little bit and then asked me, "Well, what do you send with your daughter to school?" Huh...made sense. So I present to you my favourite new snack, that also goes to school with my four year old daughter: Nut-Free, Healthy, Filling Trail Mix!


What you need:


1/2 cup roasted, unsalted pumpkin seeds

1/2 cup roasted, unsalted sunflower seeds

1/2 cup unsalted pretzels

1/4 - 1/2 cup granola (depending on desired sweetness)

1/4 cup dried fruit (I used unsweetened Bing cherries)

2 tbsp - 1/4 cup baking gems, or mini M & Ms (depending on desired sweetness)

1 tsp cinnamon

A pinch of salt (optional)


What you do:


1. Chop the pretzels and/or dried fruit of they are not bite size.

2. Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix. Taste and adjust ratios or seasoning to your liking.

3. Enjoy!
